In December of 2000, I moved to Rockford, Illinois and for the next five and half years I thought about leaving. Almost daily. Eventually, I did, but not before I had a handful of experiences that affected me in different ways. Here I briefly share some of them. While I appreciate the lessons and friendships, I won’t ever miss living there. Moreover, I don’t understand how people (who have a choice) resign themselves to staying somewhere they don’t like when there are so many other better places you can build a life for yourself. Don’t complain. Act. I’m glad that I moved on, but some experiences you don’t soon forget.
